Fresh + Chic Work Spaces

As my own home renovation goes into full swing, I’m finding it harder and harder to keep everything organized. I have to admit it drives me a little crazy to not have spot for everything, but I know it’s for a short period of time. I also think it’s healthy for me to have to let go a little. One small area I’m trying to keep organized is my work space. Although that’s been a struggle to keep neat too! So in the spirit of organized desks, I’m sharing a few fresh and chic work spaces captured by photographer, Hannah Blackmore.

Introducing Dekton by Cosentino :: Revolutionary New Surface

Dekton kitchen countertop

One of the highlights of touring KBIS with #BlogTourVegas last month was discovering new and innovative products. One such product is Cosentino’s newly launched ultra-compact surface called Dekton. Cosentino, an industry leader in quartz, natural stone and architectural surfaces may be best known for their popular Silestone products, but was buzzing about their new revolutionary product. Dekton is a highly innovative surface that can be used both indoors and out. By leveraging a proprietary technology that mimics the metamorphic change that rocks and stone undergo in nature over thousands of years, Dekton embodies extreme strength and durability. Dekton’s advanced technical properties provide UV and thermal shock resistance, superior strength, high resistance to impact, scratches and abrasion and low water absorption. This product is really ground breaking and can be used in so many applications beyond kitchens and bathrooms – imagine Dekton used for high-traffic flooring, exterior facades and pool surrounds to name a few.

Produced in large format slabs, measuring approximately 12″ x 56″ inches and three thicknesses (1.2 cm, 2 cm and 3 cm), Dekton allows flexibility for large-scale applications as seen in the poolside patio and the building facade below.

Currently, Dekton is available in three collections – Solid, Natural and Tech – with thirteen white, grey, black and natural stone hues and in three polished, matte, wood and slate finishes. In the future, the collection will expand to include a wide range of innovative aesthetics including rust, concrete and oxidized metal as well as a variety of textures, such as rippled, leather, denim, brushed and coated. Stay tuned!

happy decorating,

New Traditional Interior Design by Courtney Giles

This weekend I caught up on reading some of my favorite shelter magazines. There was one house tour featured in Atlanta Homes and Lifestyle that caught my eye. Atlanta-based Interior Designer, Courtney Giles transformed the historic 1911 four bedroom house for a young couple. Sticking with a neutral palette for the most part, Giles’ design blends traditional elements with fresh , modern accents – it’s what I refer to as new traditional interior design. The result is inviting, elegant and current.

The chinoiserie wallpaper in the powder room is dramatic and bold, but a fun choice for this small space.

The Land of Nod Holiday Party + Discount Code

Last Thursday I had the pleasure of co-hosting  The Land of Nod holiday event in the San Francisco Bay Area. Michaela, my fab intern last summer and blogger, co-hosted with me, and along with The Makery Los Altos and The Land of Nod, we had the best time! Over 100 guests enjoyed a special night of crafting, conversation, and shopping.

Michaela and I designed a fun holiday vignette using lots of bright & colorful The Land of Nod products – a fabulous shopping destination for baby & children’s furniture, decor, accessories, toys and more. As a nod (no pun intended!) to being at The Markey, we featured a kids’ craft area with the play table, adorable zig zag stockings, and a Christmas tree decked with the cutest pom pom garland and ornaments. To ground the space, we created a chandelier out of brightly hued ornaments. We were thrilled with the way it turned out!

Land of Nod gave us an adorable Cottage Dollhouse to decorate for the event. I had so much fun decorating it that I even created valences with left over fabric samples.

It’s now the home of my kids’ “Little Bunny and Blue Bunny” and they are very pleased with the new digs. Always nice to have happy clients!

The Makery hosted our event and if you haven’t heard of their shop and live in the San Francisco Bay Area, get your bootie down there ASAP! It’s a crafters dream 🙂 Full of every craft essential you could imagine, the Makery hosts amazing parties, workshops and has unique supplies and decor for custom parties. Everyone who came to our event had a ball making little adornments for their Elf on the Shelf characters. Each guest left with one, which I thought was the cutest thing ever!
