Sneak Peek :: Walker Zanger 2014 Collections

From ancient times to the present, decorative patterns inspire, enrich and influence our lives. Kindled by our instinct for decoration, Walker Zanger has created new collections for 2014 and gave us an exciting preview at #BlogTourVegas. From hand painted tiles in Mediterranean blues to ornate mosaics in marble and limestone, the collections, Duquesa and Tangent are varied, worldly and spark the imagination. Pulling influences that span the globe including Egyptian wood inlay, Chinese decorative screens and famous beach-side walkways in Rio de Janeiro, here’s a sneak peek:

Girl Bedroom Ideas :: Kerry Hanson Design

elegant entryway with roman shade - Kerry Hanson Design

Inviting, crisp and new-traditional is how I would describe Kerry Hanson’s work. Based out of New Canaan, Connecticut the interior design has a wonderful way with color, mixing patterns (some amazing fabrics used throughout!) and blending period styles (love her chinoiserie touches here and there). I especially enjoy the beautiful spaces she designed for little girls. All have timeless looks that can transition into the teenage years. All incorporate gorgeous textiles. And all are sweet, yet still sophisticated.  Here are a few of my favorites from Kerry’s portfolio to inspire and give you lots of girl bedroom ideas…

Earlier this month, I blogged about some whimsical art featuring charming coiled snakes. Since then I’ve notice these slithering critters more and more. It’s a trend your either going to love or hate, but either way exotic snakeskin patterns are making a big come back. In fact, this month’s ideabook for Houzz is dedicated to the snakeskin trend in home decor and here are a few products featured in the roundup…

Design Crush :: New York Apartment by Designer Ashley Whittaker

Over the July 4th holiday I had time to catch up on some of my favorite shelter magazines. One interior design project featured on the cover of this month’s House Beautiful, struck a cord with me. The delightful 800 square foot New York apartment was designed by Ashley Whittaker. Multi-functional furnishings, exquisite details and a mix of patterned wallcoverings are found throughout the home. Overall, the space has a feminine feel which is perfect for the owner, a single woman in her 30s. In the living room, Whittaker balances the lavender palette with with touches of gray and black. One of these elements is the fabulous black and white photograph hung above the sofa. The large-scale photograph is also a personal touch too because it’s by the the home owner’s brother, Landon Nordeman.
