Fresh, Chic Modern Decor

I was drawn to this chic dining room vignette with custom buffet with patterned nailhead, porcupine quill mirror and layered accessories while surfing for inspiration on Houzz the other day. San Francisco Bay Area designer, Laura Martin Bovard created the sleek modern look and added a fresh twist. It’s not minimalist like so many modern designs, yet has a wonderful layered, youthful and inviting feel. I think that’s why I like it so much. Here’s a peek into the other spaces Laura designed in this home:

Friday Find :: Coastal Art by Swiden

With summer in full gear, the Coast Collection by Australian-based artist, Charlotte Swiden grabbed my attention. The designs and creative techniques are influenced by Charlotte’s Swedish heritage, love of nature and childhood spent on the southern shores of Sweden (and yes, she was born with the name Swiden). Colorful, playful and reminiscent of summer days by the ocean, these linen wall hangings come in two sizes.

Like most Swedes she likes order, structure, white space and more white space.

Swiden also offers the collection as note-cards. I think these would be darling framed and hung as a series.

Serena & Lily Beach Market

Have you heard? Serena & Lily recently opened a traditional brick and mortar flagship store in the Hamptons! Although I haven’t seen it in person (dying to though!), the 3,200 square foot open floor-plan store with white crisp walls is the perfect backdrop for the brand’s fresh California style. Serena & Lily’s signature bedding, custom upholstery, statement artwork and outdoor collection are just some of the many items on the floor. It appears as if you are walking through a photo-shoots for an upcoming S&L catalog.

Sometimes we all just need a little motivation to finish a project, get to the gym or simply get through the day. One thing that helps motivate me is artwork. Art is optimistic, inspiring and moving. Adding art in your home not only boosts your mood, it bring personality to the space.
