Introducing … Shop Ten 25

Aaaaaa …  Summer. I love this time of year when days extend into the evening. The transition of seasons to warmer weather always puts me in a mood to entertain and spruce up the home. As I consider the options, I’m so happy to have Shop Ten 25 – a go to spot online for chic home decor. I’m also happy to announce they are a new sponsor of Simplified Bee (thrilled)!

With a huge array of two of items (including some of my faves … lighting, artwork & rugs!), Shop Ten 25 makes decorating easy allowing you to shop by the look, designer or color. With hundreds of items to choose from it was hard to narrow down, but here are some faves that stood out …

Peninsula Volunteers Decorator Show House :: Guest Bedroom & Bath

Melodie Rubin of House of Ruby designed the Traveler’s Bedroom, a serene guest retreat for the Peninsula Volunteers Decorator Show House in Woodside, California going on now until May 24th. The sunlit second floor bedroom as Melodie puts it, “offers the best seat in the house, providing an impressive view of the three-story birch tree and Woodside hills beyond.”

It’s the gilded canopy bed however, that takes center stage. I love that it has a soft upholstered headboard – it’s a nice juxtaposition to the metal frame. An ornate hand-beaded floral chandelier (which reminded me of a birdcage) hangs elegantly above a seating area placed at the foot of the bed.

The pair of Bunny Williams table lamps beautifully mimic the movement and pattern in throw pillows on the sofa love-seat. Those table lamps are gorgeous and are a personal favorite.

Melodie (pictured above) designed a custom corner bookshelf lined in blue paint. It not only balances the room, but displays beautiful collections of art, books and worldly treasures. I also loved the sculpture of the colorful archer she selected and place just beside the bookcase.

Just of the guest bedroom is the Dressing Room and Bath by Jana Meewes Fung of Julianne Quelle Interior Design. It’s restful sage, lavender and taupe color palette allows for a seamless transition between the two spaces. Standout elements in this space include an exquisite Venetian mirror, bamboo “Dynasty” chair and luxurious fabrics.

These spaces are so fresh, crisp and chic. Love! Don’t you?

San Francisco Decorator Showcase 2013 :: The Maker’s Mark Retreat

Kelly Hohla, Design Principal at Jeffers Design Group, designed “The Maker’s Mark Retreat” for this year’s San Francisco Decorator Showcase. An homage to the urban artisan, the light filled corner room retreat is on the 2nd floor. It’s an elegant space that could be used as a home office during the day and then a cozy place to unwind in the evening by the fireplace with a cocktail.

Hohla selects a soothing dusky grey-blue palette which is articulated by the stunning custom hair-on-hide wallcovering by Kyle Bunting. It provides such wonderful texture, pattern and movement in the space.

An earthy  hand-crafted walnut “Crosswinds” credenza by New York artist Michael Coffey, is placed just behind the desk and topped with a pair of gorgeous brass lamps by Milan-based Roberto Giulio Rida. A large-scale abstract oil painting (artist unknown to me) hangs just above the credenza.

The beautiful chandelier with exposed bulbs by Apparatus is one of my favorite pieces in the space. It caught my eye instantly.

Peek into The San Francisco Fall Antiques Show 2012

Model Tall Ships at the SF Fall Antiques Show

The Sea Worthy theme at this year’s San Francisco Fall Antiques Show is romantic, nostalgic and adventurous. As you enter the exhibition hall at Fort Mason Center nautical art, ceramics and jewelry welcome you. The first booth to the left showcases Ron Pippin’s, All Night Long He Sailed Upon It. Rustic scaffolding with wooden planks holds hundreds of Pippin’s detailed model ships, while simple (yet haunting) incandescent bulbs light the magical scene.

With nearly 60 dealers from Europe and the United States, the show features exquisite antique, vintage and modern pieces ranging in price from $100 to $1 million. Here are some of the items that caught my eye:

Giuliano Bekor Art and Bronze Aloe Lamp

This was one of my favorite vignettes with Emulsion 9 by Giuliano Bekor, 1780’s Louis XVI mahogany chest of drawers and vintage bronze “Aloe” lamp by LA Maison Charles at the Habité booth – I love the vibrant color and bold mix of now & then.

Bronze Elephant and Monkey

I just loved this sweet elephant and monkey in bronze (didn’t catch the year or artist – sorry!) was displayed is the Kentshire booth 3.

chandelier by matali crasset

Mallett has an incredible must-see lantern by Matali Crasset hanging in the center of their booth. Crasset transformed the traditional hanging lantern archetype into a piece of art. Paktong, an ancient golden-hued, silver metal, encases 24 mouth-blown glass panes. The lantern is lit by an internal hanging pendant with a mirrored shape, made with hand-blown, milk-white glass.

Industrial lighting hung on a vertical angles lined the booth of Thomas Livington Antiques – a great look!

japanese kimono patchwork

This stunning patchwork Japanese kimono hanging in Galen Lowe Art and Antiques is a head-turner.

Tang Dynasy Camel

One of my favorite pieces however, was this large camel statue from the Tang Dynasty dated 618 – 907 A.D. Curious to know how much this beauty was listed for? $32,000.

vintage swim suits

I also loved the nautical- and travel-themed works, such as these framed vintage swim suits (American Garage / booth 8) were also found throughout the exhibition.
