Darling Pink Peonies Picnic Birthday Party

Pink peonies are favorite, so I had to share this adorable picnic birthday party of little Mila I spotted on Pinterest.

How cute are the little gold crowns on each chair, fringe streamers and diy pinata letters spelling out the birthday girl’s name?!

Love the little biodegradable  birch wood plates from eco-gecko topped with kumquats. And check out those gorgeous pink peonies in full bloom.

Donuts instead of cake or cupcakes? Why not.

At the end of the table a pair of drink dispensers from Pottery Barn are placed for guests to serve themselves. So simple.

San Francisco Decorator Showcase 2014 – Dining Room

Last week I finally had the opportunity to tour this year’s San Francisco Decorator Showcase. One room that stood out as a personal favorite was the formal dining room by Cecilia Sagrera-Hill and George Brazil of SagreraBrazil. The room’s elegant design was inspired by the existing beautiful wood detailing and gorgeous hand-painted chinoiserie wallpaper installed by interior design icon, Michael Taylor (1927-1986). Mixing up period styles, the design duo added modern elements including the rug, upholstered chairs and geometric shaped dining table covered in a form fitted golden cover. The most eye-catching element however was the modern art hung above the fireplace – a magical infinity mirror with suspended butterflies in colors pulled from the wallpaper. I tried capturing an image of the artwork, but failed (so sorry!). These images don’t do the room justice, but I pulled some of the best ones I took and found:

Healthy Root Beer Float with Zevia

Recently the smart soda company, Zevia asked if I’d participate in a their “Flavors of Summer” campaign. I love Zevia, so it was a hands down yes. In fact, my family and I have been drinking Zevia sodas for years because they taste great and are sugar-free. What makes Zevia sweet you ask? The sweetness comes from the plant-based ingredient stevia – which makes it all natural and zero calories. Because there are no refined sugars or artificial sweeteners, Zevia is a healthier soda and a smart choice.

For the campaign, Zevia asked me and a few other bloggers to create a summertime drink using one of their 15 yummy flavors. I polled my kids and they selected Zevia’s Ginger Root Beer. It’s what we use to create healthy root beer floats – the kids LOVE them. It also inspired me to created an intimate summertime root beer float party for kids.

Using a dairy free, coconut ice cream, I added two scoops to a chilled Zevia Ginger Root Beer, popped in a straw and a spoon – that’s it. So simple. It wouldn’t be the “Simplified Bee” if it was a complicated drink 😉

This healthy root beer is a great choice for kids with food allergies or sensitivities because with Zevia and coconut ice cream they can be made sugar-free, dairy-free and gluten free. It would be fun served at a summertime kids’ birthday party because always nice to have a dessert that the whole party can enjoy!

Check out all the other fun drink creations from other bloggers, vote for your favorite on  Zevia’s site or Facebook page!

For the decor, I selected a festive southwestern inspired table runner. The beautiful pattern and muted color palette inspired me to create the box and tray. I’ll be covering how I did it in a follow-up post.

Pastel Easter & Spring Inspiration

It’s only a few days away, so wanted to pass along some inspiring Easter ideas courtesy of Ikea. A soft pastel color palette is always a great direction for an Easter tablescape. This one created by Ikea features ARV dinnerware in pink and white has a simple and rustic look, but it also expresses a soft touch with the wave-shaped edge.

In addition to the setting the table, I also love the idea of hanging seasonal art prints and graphic posters like this message of springtime! A different and nice way to display prints is to use a pant hanger like seen below.

As you transition your wardrobe from winter to spring, it a great time to give your closet a little makeover. One way is to unify the look of your hangers. Love these painted in springtime pastels too!

happy day,
