Aaaaaa … Summer. I love this time of year when days extend into the evening. The transition of seasons to warmer weather always puts me in a mood to entertain and spruce up the home. San Francisco Decorator Showcase 2013 :: Writer’s Retreat

Fresh, airy and chic describes the Writer’s Retreat designed by Kriste Michelini for the San Francisco Decorator Showcase 2013. The light filled, attic room on the Pacific Height mansion’s third floor features whitewashed floors, grasscloth walls and chic furnishings.

A platform bed with vibrant mix of patterned throw pillows (many of which are from Caitlin Wilson) and whimsical Kandy wallcovering in Brit Pop by Elitis is perhaps my favorite spot in the room.

A vintage inspired chaise in turquoise sits next to a storage-maximizing built-in bookcase and chic Persephone stool by Coup d’Etat.

A cheery citrine striped rug by DwellStudio units the space. While the Strider Desk and Klysmos Chair both by Ironies placed at the window, creates the perfect writer’s retreat.

Friday Find: Ankasa

The world of fashion and home decor often overlap. One influences the other as artists on each side push new boundaries. It’s particularly exciting to see designers cross fields successfully. And Fashion designers, Sachin and Babi Ahluwalia have done just that. Known as visionaries in the field of textiles, the design duo’s home brand, Ankasa is a big hit. Launched with the mantra that “luxurious fashion forward textiles could translate to any design aesthetic,” Ankasa features a gorgeous line of pillows, bedding, furniture and accessories. They also have opened two stores in Manhattan I’m dying to see in person. But, for now I’ve been swooning over their collection online.
