California Traditional Home Tour

A few weeks ago, a traditional style home designed by Chloe Warner of Redmond Aldrich Design caught my eye. Domaine featured the transformation of the beautiful Hillsborough, California home. Warner’s client, a Williams Sonoma Executive knew what she wanted – a happy, colorful and youthful space. As you will see, the result is just that. Using playful fabrics, chic wallpaper and elegant furnishings, Warner created a fresh and inviting home – just what her client dreamed of.

Simplified Bee Pinterest Board for Walker Zanger

For the past week I’ve had the pleasure of working with Walker Zanger on creating the Pinterest board, Simplified Bee’s Inspirations. You will have to check it out. It’s loaded with beautiful images inspired by the gorgeous patterns, colors and textures found throughout the Walker Zanger’s exceptional stone and tile collections.

Walker Zanger // Luxe Stone & Tile Designs

From the sophisticated, yet simple Sterling Row to worldy, yet timeless Villa D’Oro, I was mesmerized by the vast and varied collections offered. Throughout the pinning process, I tried to pair a Walker Zanger stone or tile with a beautiful interior, vignette or quote. The process was so fun and had me dreaming up spaces throughout the home featuring these exquisite collections. Here are my favorites from the pinboard:

If you are lucky enough to be in Las Vegas this week for this year’s Kitchen and Bath Industry Show (KBIS), you will have to drop by Walker Zanger’s booth (S7023 – South Hall in the Las Vegas Convention Center). In addition to previewing hundreds of new tile and stone products from their 2015 collections, you have the opportunity to meet the design team behind the soon-to-be released tile collaboration with Robert A. M. Stern Architects.

Book Review :: Decorating The Way I See It by Markham Roberts

Book Review // Decorating The Way I See It // Markham Roberts #design #book #interiors

New York-based interior designer, Markham Roberts is bringing a fresh and modern approach to traditional and contemporary styles alike. Known for his ability to work in any design vernacular, Roberts trained with legendary decorator Mark Hampton for six years before launching his own design firm in 1997. Since then his career has skyrocketed. His work has been described as “the very definition of chic” and published in Architectural Digest, Domino, House Beautiful, and House & Garden – just to name a few. Roberts was also named to the elite AD100 earlier this year. For these reasons you can imagine how eager I was to get me hands on his newly released book, Decorating: The Way I See It. Simply put, it’s extraordinary.

First, I love how the book is organized. Rather than dishing out decorating advice, Roberts takes us step-by-step as he would a design project – from the floor plan to the color and pattern scheme to the furnishings and accessories. The 250+ pages showcases his work ranging from New York City apartments to sprawling country homes. The diversity, sophistication and exceptional personable touch he delivers project after project is truly outstanding. With over 300 stunning images, selecting ones to share with you was the hardest part of of this review, however here are a few of my favorites:

Markham, with his unflinching ease, his assured eye, his natural understanding of how a house should function, and his total lack of pretense, creates rooms that age well and are timeless. – Senga Mortimer – Editor at Large at House Beautiful

This last image with cozy daybed in a rich velvet is perhaps my favorite. Roberts designed the colorful office for a mom with four children, three dogs and a husband that works from home. The inviting niche sits is directly across from her desk and provides a quiet place of her own. I long for such a space!

I know you will adore this book and fall in love with Roberts’ work like I have. It’s an absolute must have for any design library. Don’t pass on this one!

happy decorating,

cristin

California Adventure Park at Sunset #disneyland #mickeymouse

On a personal note, it’s been quite the week! We took a last minute family vacation to Disneyland (aka the happiest place on earth). It had been a few years since our last visit with Mickey, so the kids were over the moon to say the least. This time around was extra special too because we could all ride California Screaming together. Such a thrill for my youngest. I’ve posted a few pictures of the trip on Instagram, but wanted to share my favorite taken in the early evening at the California Adventure Park (above).

Happy Friday!

Cristin
