Handmade Christmas Gifts for Kids to Make

DIY snow globe with vintage feel

While I was getting crafty and decorating glass globe ornaments, one of my little ones asked if she could help. Because the glass ornaments were too fragile (one had already broke – should have picked up the plastic globe ornaments in retrospect!) and I sadly declined her offer. It made me think of holiday crafts that would be great for the little ones and would make fabulous gifts as well. I’m sharing five of my fave handmade Christmas gifts for kids  at Wayfair!

Easy DIY Christmas Ornaments

It was a crafty weekend! Using clear glass globe ornaments picked up at Michaels, I created five festive Christmas tree ornaments. This craft isn’t messy, doesn’t take a lot of time and is super easy to do. If you wanted your kids to do this project, I would recommend using the plastic clear globes.

For the trio above, gold was the theme. I filled the first with gold glitter (I’ve heard using floor was helps the glitter stick inside, but I didn’t use any here). For the second ornament, I drew tiny dots with a gold metallic Sharpie oil based pen. The gold glitter polka dots (found at Michaels) on the third one were simply stickers!

Departing from the metallic gold and glitter, these ornaments above were filled with white feathers and tiny flocked pine cones. Super simple.

All of the supplies you can find at Michaels or another craft store. And I’m telling you, these are easy DIY Christmas ornaments… If I can do it, you can do it!

Happy holidays,
Cristin

Client Reveal :: Playroom and Guest Room Design

I’m so excited to reveal a recent design project for a family with two young boys. Originally the bedroom was designed for guests and had a queen size bed (bummed, because I didn’t get an image of the before!). Needing a place for the boys to play and guests to rest, my client asked me to create a space that serves as both a playroom and guest room.

A white daybed with a pull-out trundle was paired with a custom headboard in a Duralee geometric fabric in cool shades of blue and green. It’s topped with a variety of pillows including Serena & Lily’s quilted Euro shams in navy/clover and Kuba pillow in navy.  The turquoise bed-cover with white contrasting welt was custom made durable sunbrella fabrics. The fabrics definitely set the room’s nautical color palette and we pulled out the lightest blue for the wall color (Benjamin Moore’s Arctic Blue).

For the boys’ games, toys and Lego creations (remember this boy’s bedroom with Lego display?), I selected a pair of Billy shelving units from Ikea, had them painted in Benjamin Moore’s Galapagos Turquoise and backed in a green and white trellis pattern wallpaper (used in my own kitchen nook). Green felt bins were added to help coral toy cars, smaller games and Legos of course! Land of Nod’s tree floor lamp with movable lights serves as a bedside reading lamp.

For extra kid-friendly seating, a pair of turquoise poufs and crisp white garden stool were selected. Perfect for a game of Go Fish!

My client was thrilled with the result and that’s the best part.

Happy decorating,

cristin
