Beach House Tour

Our spring has been cooler than usual and is taking its own sweet time to arrive. It has me longing for the long warm days of summer and I think that’s why I’m so drawn to the beautiful South Carolina beach house designed by Cortney Bishop. The interior’s simple white backdrop is paired with pops of contrasting blacks and grays. Warmer wood accents are featured in furnishings, cabinetry and ceiling details. And of course, I’m a huge fan of the large windows and all that natural light. The views of the Atlantic Ocean must me amazing. Take a a little beach house tour . . .

The kiddo’s spaces shown below are perhaps my favorite. The bunk room is so chic and functional. I love how it leads to a game room. The black triple faucet sink is the best too.

Full of life, love and laughter – I’m a fan of children’s spaces. Decorating for your little one doesn’t have to be overly cutesy or themed. Infusing some grown-up touches through furnishings, artwork or textiles can help add a sophistication to the space that helps it stand the test of time. Today I’ve round-up some fresh kids room ideas that feature design elements that both kiddos and parents will love.

This sweet bedroom by Joni of Lay Baby Lay showcases the boy’s love of Star Wars (fun artwork!). I love the modern touches and that the theme is subtle.

The book wall is this gender neutral kids’ bedroom is darling – it would also work behind a desk in a home office! The room designed by Jillian Scott was spotted in Rue Magazine.

Bunk beds are a great option for smaller kids’ bedrooms. I love this navy bunks with privacy curtains & brass rails in a Manhattan apartment decorated by Elena Frampton and seen in Architectural Digest. So sharp!

Don’t you love this fun painterly wallpaper?! It’s just darling as an accent in this baby’s nursery by Sarah for A Beautiful Mess.

I’m also loving the neutral herringbone wallpaper featured in this sweet girl’s nursery room by Studio McGee. The timeless plaid upholstered bench adds a fun play on pattern too.

With the fresh new year, it’s a great time to establish fresh new organizing habits. Getting your kiddos organized is high on most parents’ list too. Getting kids to be organized can be a challenge and an ever changing process as they grow up. Recently I shared some of my favorite tips on organizing for kids with Pottery Barn Kids. One of my favorite is having storage options available throughout the house – including the entry, hallway/staircase and kitchen. Known for her glitzy hotel and casino interiors in Vegas, Megan Tagliaferri of FLO Design Studio describes her own personal aesthetic as “California mod spiritual.” In her Belmont Shores of Long Beach home, she blends a mix of earthy, yet glamorous boho style. Tagliaferri brilliantly layers rich patterns throughout using designer wallcoverings, Moroccan textiles and vintage furnishings. Although high glam, the rooms are cozy, inviting and laid-back. It’s the perfect interior for the relaxed SoCal waterfront lifestyle Tagliaferri and her family were seeking. Take a peek!
