Kelley Moore’s San Francisco Flat

I’ve mentioned before that through blogging I have met the most amazing people. One such person is Kelley Moore. Kelly’s a designer, party planner and lifestyle guru. Her amazing career has had her on the go. You may have seen her on Rachel Ray, The Nate Berkus Show or even her own show, Moore to Life in Seattle!  Recently she moved to San Francisco to be the Home and Lifestyle Anchor at Joyus. Do you remember when I participated in Joyus’ designer challenge? Through the experience Kelley and I became friends. I’m telling you, she is an amazing person. Love her!

I was thrilled to see Kelley’s new San Francisco flat that she designed so beautifully featured in Rue Magazine’s October issue. It’s a home that inviting and has a wonderfully curated feel. Kelley also brilliantly blends pattern, textures and bold color (even red). Here’s a peek at the stunning interior:

Kelley shared some of her dinner party and entertaining tip & tricks with Rue too. She encourages us to mix it up – which I love!

The “it” Color for 2013 :: Emerald Green

The hue most associated with nature, harmony and growth, is ramping up for a big year because last week Pantone announcement that Emerald Green (17-5641)  is the official color of 2013. The jewel-tone is quite a contrast from last year’s energizing, Tangerine Tango.

Emerald Green’s a beautiful hue for interiors and you can’t go wrong pairing it with blues, oranges and yellows. Incorporate this harmonious color in your home by adding an emerald textiles – upholstered chairs, area rugs or throw pillows. Use the color as an accent by painting dining chairs, a chest of drawers or the front door in this rejuvenating hue? – Benjamin Moore’s Emerald Isle is a close match.

“The human eye sees more green than any other color in the spectrum,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. “As it has throughout history, multifaceted Emerald continues to sparkle and fascinate. Symbolically, Emerald brings a sense of clarity, renewal and rejuvenation, which is so important in today’s complex world. This powerful and universally appealing tone translates easily to both fashion and home interiors.”

Client Reveal :: Black, White & Gray Living Room

living room before

This was the living room of a darling client with young children. It’s where they spend the majority of their time (dancing to Wii, reading books and watching TV). It’s also the first room you see when you enter the home, so they wanted a more sophisticated, pulled together look. The black leather, kid-friendly sofas were the only items in the room that the family wanted to keep (although, the sofa table and round end table ended up working with the design).  Custom sofa pillows in Martyn Lawrence Bullard’s Darya Ikat cotton/linen fabric in stone for Schumacher was the inspiration for the room’s black, white and gray color palette. Everything from there just flowed naturally. They love the result and so do I…

My client’s husband grew up on the beaches of Southern California, so I wanted to include elements of the sea in the space. A series of coral prints by Kerri Shipp of Driftwood Interiors was selected, framed and hung above one of the sofas. It’s a simple, yet sophisticated look. Just want the family wanted!

Designer Mark Sikes Hollywood Hills Home

The latest Lonny Magazine tours the beautiful 1920s home of interior designer Mark D. Sikes located in Southern California’s iconic Hollywood Hills. The interior is chic, multi-layered and sensible. Sikes makes it look effortless and I’m swooning with every page turn.

“It doesn’t feel like a ‘decorated’ house. It’s very organic and open. In fact, that’s the first change I made to the house after we bought it. I had all the doors rehung to open out.'” – Mark Sikes via Lonny
