My Favorite Posts of 2013

With the new year just days away, I’ve been reflecting on what a wonderful year it’s been (and how fast it went by!?). 2013 was another busy, yet rewarding year here at Simplified Bee. To celebrate, I’ve selected some of my favorite posts of 2013.

Lately I’ve been in a minimalist mood and drawn to simple black and white interiors. Although simple, these spaces are chic, sophisticated and timeless. Here are a few striking interior designs in this classic color combo…

Design Crush :: Black and White Kitchen

kitchen with stainless steel countertop and black window

Black & white. It’s a classic color palette for kitchen design. This chic kitchen by Tommy Smythe features upper cabinets in white and lower cabinets in black. The timeless color combo is paired with industrial stainless steel countertops, appliances and hood. The movement in the white Carrara marble subway tiles backsplash pulls it all together beautifully. The most striking element in this kitchen vignette however, is the window pane painted black. Love!

Book Review :: Suzanne Tucker Interiors – The Romance of Design

San Francisco’s award winning interior designer, Suzanne Tucker co-founder of Tucker & Marks Design is hailed for developing elegant, enchanting and always perfectly balanced spaces. Her timeless designs are inviting and draw us in with layered art and antiques transitioning between classic and contemporary, casual and formal.

Following the huge success of her first book, Rooms to Remember, I was thrilled to learn of Suzanne’s newest publication to be released October 15th. Suzanne Tucker Interiors: The Romance of Design by Monacelli Press is truly inspiring. Suzanne offers readers a view into her design process and intimate glimpses into her clients’ luxurious homes (including Tucker’s own home). With over 280 stunning images, selecting ones to share with you was the hardest part of of this review, however here are a few of my favorites:
