Hampton Designer Showhouse 2012 :: Favorite Details

Hampton-Designer-Showcase-2012
In it’s 12th year, the 2012 Hampton Designer Showhouse opened it’s doors last week to the public and the stunning images from presenter, Traditional Home are popping up everywhere. This year’s showhouse features over twenty talented designers who transformed every inch the shingled house located in South Hampton. The home built by Grande Design Residential, Inc. is currently on the market for $5.395 million.

Rich in color, elegance and style this year’s showhouse pushing boundaries and is a treat for the eyes. The fine details are amazing. Here are some of my favorite details from the images that were taken by photographer Eric Striffler:

Baby Boy :: Elephant Nursery Design

I’ve been busy sourcing for a baby boy’s nursery room and having so much fun! My client already purchased Serena & Lily’s Dylan Crib Bedding which features a darling caravan of safari animals including the majestic elephant. The serene palette of pale blue, grass green and crisp white is a great color scheme for a baby’s room. Here’s a closer look at the crib sheet:

I found so many fun decor items, I decided to create a little design board and wanted to share with you:

San Francisco Decorator Showcase: Heather Hillard’s Master Bedroom

Even though this year’s Decorator Showcase in San Francisco has come to a close, I wanted to share one of my favorite spaces in the house, the Master Bedroom by Heather Hilliard. The serene bedroom is a great example of Heather’s ability to integrate classic detailing with the order of modern design. She states, “My concept for the room was inspired by a quote I read by a French designer, “Sometimes the beauty of a space is the empty space.” That idea resonated with me. I edited the room down to the essentials and used luxurious materials to create a serene environment with accents of color and a focus on contemporary art”.

Heather designed the room as an art installation, with white of cream 16” wide horizontal painted stripes integrated into the design of the space. To create softness against the striped walls, curvy, organic shaped furnishings like the kidney-shaped Vladimir Kagan-inspired sofa.

The space displays the beginnings of an exquisite contemporary art collection. Over the mantel hangs “Storm King” by Robert Kingston, while in the entryway “Specks of Dust” by Gary Blum. Also in the entryway, hangs the Coquille Chandelier by Remains that was inspired by the legendary Tony Duquette. The fixture is hand molded of opaline resin and directly cast from the original pattern found in Duquette’s archive.

A modern wooden sculpture by David Nash and brass fire screen by John Lyle add warmth and texture to the space.

The custom oxidized brass screen was stunning and the room’s piece of jewelry. Love!

The custom striped headboard by Heather seamlessly lines up with the painted wall stripes.

Heather also applied the fashion advice of Coco Chanel to the room’s design, “before you leave the house, remove one piece.” Such great advice!
