I know you been spotting them on instagram and pinterest too… large tassel blankets thrown over the foot of a bed. The layered look like in this room designed by Amber Interiors is a great way to add color, pattern or texture to a bedroom. And let’s not forget how cozy an extra blanket during the winter months ahead.

modern halloween // diy painted pumpkinsAh, fall is here and I’ve started to think about decorating for Halloween. This year I’m really drawn toward a simple, modern Halloween look and have been searching Pinterest for ideas. One image that stood out were these darling diy modern painted pumkins. It sounds like they are easy enough to create and you can find out how by visiting the.beauty.dojo.

To get us the spirit, I’ve rounded up a few Halloween decor with modern touches that would be fun to decorate a front door, mantel or foyer.

Decorating for Valentine’s Day

Do you decorate for Valentine’s Day? It’s okay, I do too. However, decorating for Valentine’s Day unlike Christmas or even Halloween, is more subtle. I keep it simple and don’t overdo it.

Today I’ve teamed up with the super creative folks at Minted to create a festive, yet fresh tablescape for cupid’s favorite holiday. As you’ll see – it’s not all about hearts & arrows – I’ve mixed in some none traditional prints such as the partridge table runner and modern stitch napkins to the mix – these patterns could be used year around which is a win-win. I also included red roses for a traditional touch and a double fudge chocolate cake for something sweet – a Valentine must! The bay window was the perfect place for garland & bunting to deliver a special “love you” message to family and friends.

Now… can we just talk about how darn cute the Minted classroom Valentines for kids are?

My kids selected “You’re a llama fun!” and “I like the way you roll” Valentines for their friends. So cute and I love that they are personalized. Here are a few more Valentine favorites for the kiddos from Minted:

Scandinavian Christmas Style

Have you been busy decking the halls? Truth be told – I haven’t gone crazy this season. I’m not sure if my hesitation to go all out decorating for Christmas is because of all the hectic house construction over the last year or that my holiday style is changing. Over time I’ve been increasingly drawn to the simple style of the Scandinavian Christmas. The style embraces minimalist, rustic and natural elements that I’m loving this season. To show you, I’ve pulled some of my favorite images featuring this Nordic style – all found on my Holiday Decorating Ideas board on Pinterest (yes, still a go to place to organize images and inspiration).
