Happy Friday! I don’t know about you, but this was a long week and I’m glad the weekend is here. To celebrate, I’ve rounded up some very pretty home decor. As I was pulling items that caught my eye, I noticed a pattern… lots of neutrals and some pops of hot pink. Isn’t the triangle rug (#1) fabulous! Loving these girly home decor looks!

Your Independence Day backyard picnic can also patriotic without overloading on stars and stripes by simply keeping to a red, white and blue color scheme. San Francisco Decorator Showcase :: Master Bedroom

Dark moss green. It’s a color that was popular in the 90s is making a comeback. The earthy shade of green covers the walls in the Master Bedroom designed by Will Wick of Wick Design for this year’s San Francisco Decorator Showcase. To balance the masculine walls, Wick adds soft feminine tones including the light cream drapery and pale pink bedside lamps. To achieve a curated feel, the space features a mixture of modern-styled furniture (much of which was custom designed by Wick himself) with antiques. In addition, Wick’s use of lighting, artwork and color is tremendous. I was smitten by the level of detail that went into this design. Bravo!

Book Review :: Windsor Smith HOMEFRONT

Her interiors are glamorous, yet practical; sophisticated, yet relaxed. She strikes the perfect balance. I’m talking about A-list interior designer, Windsor Smith. She is simply one of the best in the business and so it’s no surprise that her first book, HOMEFRONT (Rizzoli) is absolutely fantastic. Filled with over 200 inspiring images, Smith walks through her process for creating beautiful, functional spaces from design intuition to the home in balance. In the book’s introduction, she explains her goal is to “design beautiful rooms for the way people today actually use them, regardless of their intended purpose, breaking the rules as to how a room ‘should’ function.” Her approach of creating livable spaces in every corner of the home resonates with me. Take a look at just some of the gorgeous images that grace the pages of this book and I think you’ll agree too.

A home in balance is masculine and feminine, antique and modern, light and dark, austere and glam, rustic and sophisticated – all these things in perfect harmony. – Windsor Smith

I’m like an unruly child when it comes to design. There’s always a point where I say: “What if this weren’t the dining room?” – Windsor Smith
