Design Reveal :: Marble Bathroom

After months of planning, designing and building, our home addition is complete. 🙂 Although I’m enjoying all of the new space, my favorite is the new master bathroom. At 6′ x 7′ its certainly isn’t big, but it has what we need. Come take a peek.

The white and gray carrera tile was my starting point for the crisp, clean color scheme. The honeycomb pattern floor tiles are paired with 6″ x 18″ honed white carrera field tiles in a subway pattern for the shower and walls. Both were ordered through my friends at the Tile Bar. For maximum storage I designed the custom white vanity with a tower and a single sink (we needed the storage more than a second sink).  For contrast and durability it was topped with a charcoal quartz. The hardware gives it a little mix of chinoiserie and mid-century modern style. I love the result.

It was hard to resist the brass trend and instead selected polished chrome finishes for all of the fixtures and hardware. I wanted the new addition to feel like it was always part of the home, so didn’t change up the finishes. I selected a beautiful traditional faucet by California Faucets that is perfect for my 1940s ranch style home. This particular style of widespread faucet (shown above) is available through Belmont Hardware. Ask for Ron in the Belmont store and he can hook you up! I also love that California Faucets allows you to design your own faucet in over 30 decorative finishes!

The shower also features California Faucets’ hand-shower, thermostatic system and drain. Not only do I love the look and feel, but all of these products comply with strict water conservation building codes. According to the California law, all shower heads must flow no more than 2.5 gallons of water per minute, interior faucets must emit no more than 2.2 gallons of water per minute and all toilets must use no more than 1.6 gallons of water per flush.

Here’s a closer look at California Faucets’ StyleTherm Thermostatic System. We selected a round chrome plate with a single volume control. Even though we have two shower heads, the control will only allow us to run one at a time to comply with the new water conservation rules. Anything to help the drought and save water is okay by me!

The Neo Style drain is so chic too! Love it. You have to check out all of the other luxe drains at California Faucets!

Do you remember my Mr. Steam article? Well, I fell in love with the product so much I had to get one for the new shower. In addition to the Mr. Steam unit we selected a fold-down teak bench and a sleek iTempo control system. The control system is housed inside the shower which is the best. We are loving our new steam bath!

There are also some smaller design details in the bathroom that make the space functional and beautiful including the light sconestowel rack, acrylic tray, tassel hand towels, cement succulentenamel bath accessories and simple banded Roman shade. The scone shades have a silver trim which I was drawn to.

A big thank you to California Faucets, Mr. Steam and TileBar for helping me create the perfect bathroom. Loved working with you on the design and thrilled with the result.

happy decorating,

Girls Flamingo Bedroom & Caitlin Wilson Textiles

girls' bedroom with flamingo wallpaper and caitlin wilson textiles // simplified bee design

It’s been months in the making, but our new home addition is in its final stages. The master suite was all new construction, but some rooms were reconfigured. One such room was the bedroom of one of my kiddos. She’s an animal lover and can be found most of the time in the backyard talking to our hens. She has even knit them scarves. So it was totally in her wheel house to select a pink flamingo wallpaper for her new room (yes, there are tons of flamingos and yes, it’s adorable).  Pinks, corals and gray. Loved this color palette and looked to Caitlin Wilson Textiles first when sourcing throw pillows for her bed. I was in the process of narrowing down sizes and patterns when I received an email from Caitlin’s assistant asking if I like to review some throw pillows. (what?! I almost fell out of my chair.) It reminded me of the times when I would pick up the phone to call my mom, but she was already on the line because she was calling me.

So, of course I said yes and selected the Coral Fretwork and Greige Deco pillow. They are even more beautiful in person. The Coral Fretwork pillow has tiny gold metallic threads that create just the right sparkle. Love!

If you haven’t been introduced to Caitlin’s gorgeous pillow collection, I’ve selected a few of my current faves.

All my patterns can be juxtaposed for a bold, edgy look- I want you to have fun with the process! – Cailtin Wilson

Thank you Caitlin for helping make my daughter’s room so special!

happy decorating,

Our Small Walk-in Closet Design

rough walk-in closet - simplified bee

One criteria for the new addition in our home was a walk-in closet for the master bedroom. The closet space is on the small side (roughly 6′ x 7′) and because it needed to be designed for me and my husband’s clothing, it had to be highly functional. I turned to and partnered with the nice folks at EasyClosets for help designing the perfect system for our closet. Over the phone and online, I worked with an EasyClosets designer to create a custom closet that maximizes storage from floor to ceiling and delivers a super stylish look. Functional and beautiful. Love!

Here’s a look at the overall design. As you can see we utilized several functional storage features including full-extension drawers, double hanging rods and a fabulous slanted shoe shelf. Once I placed the order it only took a few days for the boxes to arrive. Yes, there were quite a few boxes too!

The install was done by my husband. He knocked the whole project out in a weekend. Don’t have the time or not a weekend warrior? No worries, EasyClosets can help find a professional to install it for you.

For a clean look, I selected flat drawer fronts, driftwood finish and modern chrome pulls. I love how it came together and was so excited to start filling it with our shoes clothing and accessories. Next week, I’m going to be sharing more images of our small walk-in closet design. Stay tuned!

happy organizing,

cristin
