San Francisco Decorator Showcase :: Master Bedroom

Dark moss green. It’s a color that was popular in the 90s is making a comeback. The earthy shade of green covers the walls in the Master Bedroom designed by Will Wick of Wick Design for this year’s San Francisco Decorator Showcase. To balance the masculine walls, Wick adds soft feminine tones including the light cream drapery and pale pink bedside lamps. To achieve a curated feel, the space features a mixture of modern-styled furniture (much of which was custom designed by Wick himself) with antiques. In addition, Wick’s use of lighting, artwork and color is tremendous. I was smitten by the level of detail that went into this design. Bravo!

San Francisco Decorator Showcase :: His Office

Even thought the San Francisco Decorator Showcase 2015 closed the doors this past weekend, I still have a few rooms I’d like to share with you. One is “His Office” created by Brittany Haines of Authenticity B. Designs. The design was inspired by the literature, art and design resulting from destruction. “We kept coming across this concept over and over again – my team couldn’t escape it. So we designed a room around it. The centerpiece of the room is a desk constructed from material called shou sugi ban, created by an ancient Japanese technique of charring cedar planks.” says Haines. Placed opposite the desk is a painting by Ian Kimmerly which was inspired by the crackly, damaged videotapes. Even the smallest details like a wooden tray has a rawness about them. Even with the “destructive” elements, the room is approachable, flooded with natural light and brilliantly layered.

San Francisco Decorator Showcase :: Master Bathroom

Today I’m sharing another fabulous interior design from the 2015 San Francisco Decorator Showcase (open now through May 25th). Located just of the main staircase on the second floor, you’ll find the “En Vogue Salon” designed by Tineke Triggs and her team at Artistic Designs for Living. Inspired by the July 1966 Vogue Magazine cover, the master bathroom and make-up salon are nothing by glamorous.

Front and center, Triggs hangs a commissioned photograph by Danielle Mourning (courtesy of Stephanie Breitbard Fine Arts). Just below is an oval freestanding tub that sits on a custom stone floor (designed by Triggs) and is beautifully framed by dip-dyed linen ombre curtains. The hand formed brass and steel Palermo chandelier which hand just above the tub is an absolute head turner! Adjacent to the tub is a custom double vanity featuring period details such as the geometric hand-painted gold applique coupled with brass and lucite hardware. A luxurious chaise covered in an emerald velvet is a nod to the striking eye color found in the ’66 Vogue cover. A super groovy black and white piece hangs just above the sitting area. The shower with feathered herringbone marble tile bridges the master bathroom and dressing room space. The make-up salon walls are strikingly wrapped in Vogue Magazine covers (actually a fabric by James Malone Fabrics). Its the perfect space to prepare for an evening out!

San Francisco Decorator Showcase :: Teen Girls Bathroom

As I mentioned before, the 2015 San Francisco Decorator Showcase  featured lots and lots of beautiful wallcoverings. One space that stood out, was the “Lip Service” teen girl’s bathroom by designers Jennifer Wundrow and Heather Brock of Nest Design Co. The daring kiss-themed wallpaper by Voutsa in crimson, tangerine and blush covered much of the walls. The playful, modern pattern was paired with a classic marble herringbone floor. In addition, the bathroom features strong sculptural pieces including the freestanding cast-iron tub by Kohler and a gorgeous custom inlaid horn vanity. Touches of brass are found throughout the space such as the statement light fixtures, contemporary faucets and brass intaglio inlaid in the flooring and shower. Such wonderful details in the space!
