Design Reveal :: Blue and Orange Boys Bedroom

I’m thrilled to be sharing a peek into a boy’s bedroom I designed for a client’s son. Even though my client, Suzanne (also a friend and fabulous lifestyle photographer) lives in the San Francisco Bay Area, she choose my virtual design services. This gave her the design direction she was looking for, but the ability to purchase items herself and at her own pace.

Suzanne envisioned a “big boy” room that her son would enjoy now and through his teenage years. One way we achieved this was to select a neutral wall color – Benjamin Moore’s Revere Pewter. It’s a warm gray that gives the room a fresh, modern feel. While the rug, window treatments, furnishings and bedding pull traditional hues of blue and orange perfect for a boy any age.

To get a full appreciation for the transformation, I’ve included a look at the room before (below). There are actually two images – one of when it was a yellow nursery and the other more recent for the toddler years (although the paint color had already been changed for the new design).

My client’s son loves his new “big boy room.” The desk with locker-style drawers is his favorite – it’s just plain cool. On the other hand, I love the dark brown dresser with contrasting white pulls and the custom photo canvas above. The photograph taken by Suzanne of her son adds a pop of color and a personal touch to the space. Love!

How does Simplified Bee’s Virtual Design work? Step one is to answer a detailed questionnaire that narrows down the client’s vision, style and budget. Next after a scheduled phone call and consultation with the homeowner, I will create a design delivered digitally that includes mood board(s), floor-plan(s), paint colors, budget/shopping tool, detailed product info and any additional instructions the client will need to finish the room. The client then has the opportunity make the design come to life by purchasing items directly from the shopping list and at their own pace. For more information and pricing, please contact me!

Happy decorating!

Cristin

Robert Abbey Delta Lily Table Lamp - LampsPlus

If you received a $500 shopping spree at Lamps Plus, what would you buy? I’d purchase a pair of Robert Abbey’s Delta Lily table lamps (although haven’t decided on a color yet!). I love the clean, contemporary base which comes in a variety of colors. I think a pair would look great flanking a bed, sofa or console table.

Designer’s Custom Table Lamps with Lamps Plus

Finding a table lamp in just the right hue has never been easier, more affordable or fun. The Color+Plus collection from Lamps Plus offers a whopping 100+  designer colors with custom-coordinated shades, bases and finials. The combinations are endless. And best yet you get a designer look (each hand-made to order) without the price-tag… Color+Plus lamps start as low as $39.99 and go as high as $299.99.  I know. It almost makes your heart skip a beat, doesn’t it?!

Lamps Plus asked several designers, television personalities and design bloggers to create a lamp (I was thrilled to be included!) and the results were recently released. Here are just a few of the colorful creations. Can you tell which one is mine?

In addition, a new lamp I  just created in minutes was thrown in the mix (top right) and it’s base color predicts what I think will be a big color, if not the Pantone color of the year in 2014 … Pantone 18-4434 Mykonos Blue!

Okay, I won’t keep you guessing. The pastel green ovo table lamp with gray dupioni silk shade was the lamp I created fro Lamps Plus. I loved the bold chartreuse paired with the classic gray. But, to find out who created the other lamps featured above, you will have leaf through the lookbook.
