Thanksgiving Decor Inspiration

Our kitchen – great room renovation has taken five long months, but we are thrilled with the overall result. There are so many aspects I love, but am particularly smitten with the Sub-zero Wolf range, Fireclay tile backsplash and Neolith countertops (sneak peek above). As you can image, we are very excited to be hosting Thanksgiving in our new kitchen! So recently I’ve been combing blogs and Pinterest for Thanksgiving decor inspiration and recipes. Sorry for the radio silence, but our kitchen remodel has been consuming much of my time these days. I’ve made tons of decisions regarding cabinetry design, fixtures and finishes, but still have a few up in the air. For example, I still have yet to select the counter stools for an island. I’m torn on material and design. Should I pick up brass accents to echo the pendant lighting? Add a chinoiserie touch? or go with something classic? New Kitchen Inspiration

As many of you know, we purchased a 1940s colonial style fixer upper. We’ve tackled several rooms already including the foyer and master bath. Our next big project is renovating a retro kitchen and opening up several smaller rooms to create an open great room. Over the last several months we’ve been to finalizing the plan and obtaining the building permit. Now we are demoing the space, so there is no going back!

I’d like the kitchen to feel light, modern with natural elements. Here are a few kitchens that I’m drawn to and have helped me hone in on what we want.

Design Trend :: Black Kitchens

After the master bathroom renovation is complete, we will be tackling a larger project: our kitchen and great room. I’m leaning toward a white/neutral kitchen, but have been drawn to black kitchens. It’s a design trend that’s certainly picked up over the last couple years. I’ve spotted sleek black cabinetry in all types of kitchens from traditional to modern. Here are a few of my favorites.
