The Gifter :: Gifts Under $20

Tis the season of giving, but with a growing list of gift-recipients it can be really tough on your wallet. This week’s mission for #TheGifter is to uncover fabulous, thoughtful gifts under $20. It may seem like a hard task, but when shopping at HomeGoods it’s quite easy. With an huge array of  high quality products, new items arriving daily and prices up to 60% less than department stores, I spotted some amazing gift ideas at my local HomeGoods store – sharing a few here and on Instagram!

red espresso 3 cup - gift idea

Yep, this top-quality brand name espresso coffee maker in festive red was found at HomeGoods for under $20. In fact, it was less than $10! Makes a perfect gift for the coffee lovers on your list.

drink pitcher - great gift for under $20

This simple, yet elegant handcrafted drink pitcher made in Portugal was also spotted at HomeGoods for under $20. It’s a great gift for the entertainer, cook or newlywed on your list.

bottle brush fox ornament - christmas tree

Fox decor is really hot this holiday season.  So when I uncovered a pair of bottle brush fox ornaments for the Christmas tree well under $20, I grabbed them for myself. They too would make a fabulous gift for co-workers, teachers and friends.

gold + silver decorative storage boxes

The organizer in me was drawn to these chic silver and gold decorative storage boxes – HomeGoods was selling all three for under $20. Fill them with homemade holiday cookies, add a bow and you have a beautiful (affordable) gift that anyone would welcome.

Now it’s your turn to uncover fabulous gifts for under $20! While shopping HomeGoods or other TJX stores, tweet a picture of the items you discover using #TheGifter and you’ll be entered to win a TJX $500 gift card! There is a new winner every week – I’d be over-the-moon if it was a Simplified Bee reader!!!

Happy shopping,

Cristin

Easy DIY Christmas Ornaments

It was a crafty weekend! Using clear glass globe ornaments picked up at Michaels, I created five festive Christmas tree ornaments. This craft isn’t messy, doesn’t take a lot of time and is super easy to do. If you wanted your kids to do this project, I would recommend using the plastic clear globes.

For the trio above, gold was the theme. I filled the first with gold glitter (I’ve heard using floor was helps the glitter stick inside, but I didn’t use any here). For the second ornament, I drew tiny dots with a gold metallic Sharpie oil based pen. The gold glitter polka dots (found at Michaels) on the third one were simply stickers!

DIY globe ornaments with feathers and pine cones - simplified bee

Departing from the metallic gold and glitter, these ornaments above were filled with white feathers and tiny flocked pine cones. Super simple.

All of the supplies you can find at Michaels or another craft store. And I’m telling you, these are easy DIY Christmas ornaments… If I can do it, you can do it!

Happy holidays,
Cristin

And like many, I was saddened by the news of Nelson Mandela’s passing yesterday. He was an incredible leader and through love, peace and justice touched millions of lives.
