Stylish Tape Dispenser – DIY

I’m always looking for stylish ways to make everyday products pretty. Why not simply change out the inner label of a tape dispenser with decorative paper? It’s a clever idea I saw on Pinterest and loved it. Even though I’m not typically up for DIY projects, I knew this was one I could accomplish in minimal time. 🙂

This past week I received the opportunity to review some products from the new, beautiful Martha Stewart Home Office with Avery line now available at Staples. I selected the adhesive pockets because I need a better way to organize coupons, loose recipes and takeout menus. It only took a couple of minutes for me to stick the pockets on the back of a kitchen cabinet door and voila, I have a smart and pretty solution for housing kitchen paperwork! Love ‘em!
The nice folks at Martha Stewart and Avery would like to giveaway $50 worth of adhesive pockets to one lucky Simplified Bee reader to try for themselves!

Here’s how to enter to win:
• Leave a comment on this post. {provide your email if I don’t have a way to contact you}.
• Extra Entry – become a new follower of Simplified Bee’s Blog, Twitter, Pinterest or Facebook Page.
• Extra Entry – mention this giveaway in a blog post, FB link or tweet, then leave a comment letting me know.
• Extra Entry – become a new follower of Avery and The Org of Moms on Facebook.

Friday Find: Stylish Hand-Crank Paper Shredder

Have you had your identity stolen? I’ve heard it’s a nightmare. To reduce your risk of identity theft, it’s recommended that we shred all sensitive documents. But, when is a document “sensitive?” In general, we should shred documents that contain the following:
  • Account numbers {medical, financial, credit card}
  • Birth date
  • Home address
  • Social security number
  • Passwords / PINs
  • Signatures
  • Credit card applications

Paper shredders come in all shapes, sizes and price ranges, but I’ve never seen one like this before. It requires no electricity, comes in yummy hues of grey or turquoise and features a streamline design that’s attractive enough to be displayed on your desktop. I didn’t think it was possible, but Poketo currently has a stylish hand-cranked paper shredder available for $45. I’m digging it for home office use!
All this talk about paper makes me think that we really need to reduce the amount we use. One way to cut down on the amount of paper in your home is to  reduce the amount of mail you receive. Here are some suggestions:
