Indoor Plant Spotlight :: Orchids

potted orchid atop stacked booksLive houseplants are essential home accessories that add life to a space. A personal favorite is the orchid. With over 20,000 known species, the orchid is exotic, colorful and often fragrant. Orchids look fabulous anywhere including in an entryway, bathroom or on a coffee table. Here are a few great examples of interiors featuring orchids:

Orchid care can be tricky, but not as difficult as you may think. BHG has a great article on how to care for orchids in your home.

Shades of Gray Home Decor

From charcoal to slate, cadet to pewter, smoky to mousy. The many shades of gray is quite vast, sophisticated and yet neutralizing. A mixture of black and white, the trending color has been hitting the fashion runways, surfaces in our homes and the pages of a very popular book (need I say more). Over the past couple years more and more of my clients have wanted to paint central living areas in soft shades of gray, cover counters in gray marble or stain cabinetry in rich gray tones. It’s a trend I personally love and I don’t see slowing down anytime soon.

To give you an idea of the range of shades and uses gray can offer, I’ve rounded up several inspiring images.

Simplified Bee Pinterest Board for Walker Zanger

For the past week I’ve had the pleasure of working with Walker Zanger on creating the Pinterest board, Simplified Bee’s Inspirations. You will have to check it out. It’s loaded with beautiful images inspired by the gorgeous patterns, colors and textures found throughout the Walker Zanger’s exceptional stone and tile collections.

Walker Zanger // Luxe Stone & Tile Designs

From the sophisticated, yet simple Sterling Row to worldy, yet timeless Villa D’Oro, I was mesmerized by the vast and varied collections offered. Throughout the pinning process, I tried to pair a Walker Zanger stone or tile with a beautiful interior, vignette or quote. The process was so fun and had me dreaming up spaces throughout the home featuring these exquisite collections. Here are my favorites from the pinboard:

If you are lucky enough to be in Las Vegas this week for this year’s Kitchen and Bath Industry Show (KBIS), you will have to drop by Walker Zanger’s booth (S7023 – South Hall in the Las Vegas Convention Center). In addition to previewing hundreds of new tile and stone products from their 2015 collections, you have the opportunity to meet the design team behind the soon-to-be released tile collaboration with Robert A. M. Stern Architects.
