Joyus & HD Buttercup Room Makeover Event Invite

A couple weeks ago I spent the morning working with the fabulous team over at Joyus – a next-generation, online retailer that integrates shopping and video to help you discover and buy the things you’ll love. They invited me and six other design bloggers to each create a living room using some gorgeous pieces from HD Buttercup, share decorating ideas and do it all in under five hours {I used every last minute!}. In the process I had the pleasure of working with Joyus’ new Home and Lifestyle anchor, Kelley Moore. Love her!
All seven spaces will be unveiled in videos posted Tuesday, April 3rd. Viewers are asked to vote for their favorite design and in doing so are entered to win a $1500 Joyous shopping spree! In addition, to kick off the friendly competition, Joyus and HD Buttercup are hosting a party and you’re invited!

Friday Find: John Robshaw for Duralee

One of my favorite textile designers, John Robshaw has team up with Duralee to create a fabulous four-book collection of coordinated fabrics. All with Robshaw’s signature worldly look, the collection is divided into rich colors inspired by nature and saturated tones of the East.

Robshaw’s products are a direct reflection of his life experiences and says, “by making textiles, I get to become a minor character in the lives of the people I work with, and I can take inspiration from what I see and do there. I go to their weddings, celebrate their festivals, I get sick with them, drink tea with them, and develop relationships with the people who are teaching me. When you look at my textiles, I want you to feel link you’ve been on the world tour along with me.”

Book Review: Katie Ridder Rooms

katie_ridder_rooms_book_giveaway
Katie Ridder’s award-winning interior design work and impeccable sense of style has attracted clients from around the globe. Her attention to lavish detail, use of rich color and mix of periods and styles distinguishes her work from the others. I most love that Katie’s interiors are sophisticated, yet approachable. This feeling is perhaps a result of both of her California upbringing and being a mother of three.

As you can imagine, I loved her design book, “Katie Ridder Rooms” published by Vendome and released last fall. It’s 235 pages are full of beautiful large-scale photographs of Katie’s design projects {many not found on the Internet}. From foyers to dining rooms, kitchens to bedrooms – a large variety of her work is represented. In addition to rich narrative accompanying the photos, Katie provides us with decorating advice and a complete source guide!

The final chapter and my favorite, focuses in on the attention of detail that elevates Katie’s interior designs. This section touches on the design details in lighting, upholstery, embroidery, tile and wallpaper which Katie incorporates to create her exquisite, signature looks.
