Decorating Trend :: Camels

We’ve seen lots of home décor items featuring animals such as elephantsowlshorses and even foxes. So, what’s the next hottest animal you may be wondering? It just might be the stately, humped-back camel.  There are two species of camel. The first which is native to the Middle East and the Horn of Africa is the single humped camel or dromedary. The second, Bactrain, or two-humped camel, which inhabits Central Asia.

Check out all the beautiful items I found featuring camels!

There may be a reason this room looks familiar to you. Images of this fabulous office have been pinned and re-pinned a zillion times. It’s the office of  Tiffany Richey of Tiffany Richey Design and I think you’ll agree that it’s super chic. The black and white Tanzania wallpaper by Thibaut (love!) sets the mood at glamorous. And if you love the look, here’s out to get it!

Interior Design Trend :: Malachite

malachite dress monique lhuillier

My daughter has been studying minerals at school and it made me think of some of my favorites. Gold, diamonds and turquoise are at the top of my list. However, I’m really liking the use of malachite for decorative purposes. It’s a hot interior design trend that I’m seeing more and more. The pattern even graced the runway at designer, Monique Lhuillier’s show last week at New York’s Fashion Week.

Malachite is a copper hydroxyl carbonate that crystalizes to create the rich green color. This beautiful marbled green mineral isn’t new to home decor either. Typically adorning high-end decorative pieces, malachite has been used for centuries. For fun, I pulled together a round-up of a few of my favorite items using malachite (or it’s beautiful marbled green pattern).

Friday Find: Geometric Mobile

Graphic patterns – a hot design trend for 2013 – are popping up in all sorts of home decor items like this whimsical geometric mobile by LA-based artist, Kim Baise. The Twigeli Mobile, inspired by traditional Finnish himmeli, is made from twigs, paint and natural hemp twine. I think it would look darling displayed  in a playroom, baby’s nursery or hanging from a tree in the backyard.

It’s been a wonderful, crazy, productive week, but I’m relieved it’s Friday. I love this day.
