How cute this mid-century modern inspired marble coffee table with chic home decor accessories? The metallic banded vase is my fave! It’s all part of West Elm’s recently released collection for fall 2014. Scouring the globe from Peru to India, Haiti to the Philippines, this collection delivers authentic artisanal pieces to make your house a home. The most exciting part? For me it’s their introduction of over 50 collections of lighting in a wide variety of style from deco to mid-century to industrial. And as always, West Elm delivers stylish, fresh and practical home furnishings and decor that’s affordable. Here are a few other items for fall that caught my eye.

Design Crush :: Lulu DK

LuLu DK butterfly table runner and pink peonies // fiesta ideas

A few years ago a butterfly fabric by Lulu deKwaitkowski for Schumacher inspired the color palette and theme for a family party. I spotted the playful pattern in another textile of Lulu’s that was used to cover walls. It’s hard to see from the image below, but the fabric is a gorgeous linen and the butterflies are in shades of blue with gold metallic accents. It is quite striking.

The image, found on Lulu’s blog reminded of how much I love her aesthetic – colorful, chic and always inviting. Her sophisticated, yet relaxed style is a result of her polar upbringing in bustling Manhattan and the laid-back beach lifestyle of the Hamptons and Bahamas. It’s most apparent in her LULU DK collections of fabrics, rugs, bedding, artwork and other decor items.

Lulu always hand draws and paints her motifs and patterns before they are transformed into beautiful textiles. Her artwork is stunning!

Recently, Lulu launched a line of adorable wall decals. My fave are the butterflies. So cute for a baby’s nursery, don’t you think?

gold removable tattoos // LULU DK #tattoos

I’ve never been a tattoo girl, but Lulu’s new metallic jewelry tattoos are so chic. Available in gold, silver or black the tattoos will last about 4 days in and out of the water. I just might have to try them out this summer!

happy decorating,

cristin

Serena and Lily Summer - Beach Dining

Awe, summer. With the season just around the corner, it’s the perfect time to spruce up your home for long, sunny days ahead. When looking for stylish, seasonal home furnishings and accessories, a favorite source is Serena & Lily. Their new summer collection is fresh, fun and bound to inspire a backyard bbq, beach party or summer soiree. And although not an easy task, I’ve narrowed down a few of my favorites items.

Another summer item that I’m loving from Serena & Lily is the cotton banded herringbone throw (above). Cozy and timeless, the throw comes in three classic color: tomato, denim and black. Don’t you love it? In celebration of Simplified Bee’s 5th Anniversary, Serena & Lily is offering you the opportunity to win one. The winner gets to select the color too (based on availability). Simply enter the Serena and Lily giveaway by using the Rafflecopter link below. The winning entrant will be announced on Simplified Bee’s Facebook Fan Page after the giveaway closes next week.

There’s even more good news! Until last year’s Hampton’s store opening, you could only purchase Serena & Lily online. I’ve longed to make the trip to see it for myself, but now won’t have to because Serena & Lily opened a new design store here in San Francisco earlier this month. Although, I was unable to attend the grand opening, fellow blogger, Caitlin wrote a beautiful article covering the event. I’m loving the image below that Caitlin took of the new store’s gallery walls.

Don’t forget to enter the other fabulous giveaways from Lamps Plus and Truffle that are also going on this week!

Best of luck!

Friday Finds :: Feather Patterns in Home Decor

One trend that has taken flight is the use of feathers and feather patterns in home decor. Whether real, drawn or manufactured, they add an exotic feel to any space and are being featured in a wide variety of home decor items like rugs, lighting and wallpaper. I personally love the look.
