Design Trend: Hot Air Balloons

schumacher_balloon_wallpaper
Although I have never taken a ride in a hot air balloon, I have always been fascinated by them. Perhaps it’s because there is something a little old fashioned, adventurous and romantic about these massive balloons that intrigues me. In the past year, I have also noticed more and more hot air balloons popping up in home décor like this whimsical Schumacher wallpaper, Balloons. For more, see my round-up of home décor featuring hot air balloons in this ideabook on Houzz.

And how darling is the hot air balloon theme for little one’s birthday? This one I love and was featured on Amy Atlas’ blog? The festive table in pastel pinks and purple, with touches of yellow was created by Louisa and Melissa of Little Big Company in Australia.  The hot air balloon cake by 2 Sisters Cakes is simply amazing and the sweet printables were by Ham and Pea Paperie. The photography was by Casamento Photography.

Personalized Valentines for the Class from a Little Artist

kids_valentines_artist_illustration_diy
A relative alerted me to this darling Valentines craft from Blonde Designs which I quickly pinned. I knew it was the perfect project for my little artist.

I simply printed the template on cardstock, cut it on the crop marks and then scored it so it would fold over. My little one then personalized each illustration for everyone in her class.

Although the candy is cute {btw when did Valentine’s Day turn into Halloween?!}, I decided to go a different route for the “goodie.” I found mini color pencil sets that although are a little bigger than the tag, looked great and embraced the artist theme.
How are you celebrating Valentine’s Day?

vintage_inspired_kids_decor_ferm_living

It’s true – I have a small addiction for throw pillows. In many instances a pillow can serve as inspiration for a design, pull the color palette together or simply add a touch of whimsy in a space. Simplified Bee’s new sponsor {yippee!}, Polka Dot Peacock offers the cutest throw pillows on the planet for kids’ rooms. I am highlighting just a few here, so be sure to visit Polka Dot Peacock to see them all.
