Sweet Blue & Lavender Girl’s Bedroom by Margot Austin

Canada’s most talented Margot Austin wears many hats. She is a stylist, decorator and senior design editor for Style at Home, a magazine read by 1.6 million people per month.

This darling girl’s room was designed by Austin. She combines blues, lavender and white to create a cool, yet inviting color palette. The crystal chandelier, floral throw pillow and painted floral motif above the bed {wall decals from Ikea} gives the space a feminine feel.

A pair of three-drawer sidetables in turquoise flank the bed and are a brilliant addition. The key here is to have the table’s color be a few shades darker than the wall {Benjamin Moore’s Bird’s Egg} so that there is some contrast. The silver table lamp coordinates beautifully with the bedframe.

Here Austin maximizes the room’s vertical space by using two tall cabinets that provide additional storage. The desk is beautifully positioned in between to balance the look. The desk chair is slipcovered in a darling floral print that is repeated in the bed and chair pillows.

The small bright yellow sidetable is delightful between the two white slipcovered armchairs. What a fun place to read a book or chat with girlfriends.

Oh I love this! Haven't seen this space before. The desk area is of course my favorite…looks so oranized but at the same time is very relaxing and inviting. thanks for sharing these!

I have the same color nightstands!
The room is lovely, though I have noticed a trend to give little girls and boys big beds, and am not really down with it. I know it looks better in a room if you have the space, and it's something to grow into. But a small body in a large bed does not seem cozy enough.

I would not have dared put those colors together, but they look fab. Great point you made, that the table needs to be a bit darker than the wall.

I just love this! What a wonderful idea to have the night stand be a couple shades darker than the wall, I'll have to remember this! Janell

hey, thanks for the nice post and comments! A couple of notes: the wall colour is Ben Moore's Bird's Egg — a real fave. The flowers on the wall above the bed are just wall decals from IKEA — easy peasy. And lastly, the room is actually not for a “little” girl but a 17-year-old who is close to 6 ft tall (this as a reply to Visual Vamp's comment about the size of the bed)

Austin has every reason to become #1 spot for the second time. The increasing popularity of Austin real estate market and technology up gradation are the main factors of becoming so famous. Austin Texas Real Estate market will become very popular in the global market as the trend goes on like it is going on right now.

Does anyone know where the fabric for the decorative pillows and desk chair were purchased?
