One Room Challenge 2015 :: Decor Trends

Guess what? Last week my stair runner was installed! I’m so bummed it didn’t make the final One Room Challenge reveal, but it was totally worth the wait! I’m hoping to take a few shoots of it this week to share with you.

The install had me thinking of all the lovely designs produced for the One Room Challenge.  As I reflect back, a few decor trends were featured in a number of rooms. Here are the ones that caught my eye:

BUFFALO CHECK PLAID

Kimberly dressed the windows in her living room with a timeless and trendy buffalo check plaid. It’s a pattern that’s been a fashion favorite too!

STATEMENT WALLPAPER

Wallpaper has been trending for several years now, but it was hotter than ever in this season’s ORC. Cassandra used the most amazing statement wallpaper in her attic dressing room. Loving the chic pattern and colorway too!

LUCITE + BRASS
lucite & brass curtain rods

Lucite and brass have been trending for some time, but I love the combo. It popped up a couple times in the ORC. It’s perfect here as a curtain rod in Mackenzie’s guest bedroom too!

CHINOISERIE PATTERNS

Chinoiserie patterns were featured in several ORC rooms including my own Foyer! I swooned over the textiles and wallcoverings used throughout Paige’s kitchen.

Friday Find :: Caroline Cecil Textiles

You know I have a thing for textiles, so when I was introduced textile designer, Caroline Cecil I knew I had to share her creations with you! Based in San Francisco, Cecil has worked in the textile industry for years designing for A-list fashion designers including Vera Wang and Carolina Herrera before launching her own company. In her debut collection, “La Vie Imprimée” the art of hand screen printing in celebrated. French for “a printed life”, the title reflects the process by which they produce the fabrics. Each design begins as an india ink painting, and is translated onto heritage and premium ground cloths via hand screen printing. (swoon!) The collection delivers brilliant colors, contemporary patterns and gorgeous quality. I think you’ll love it too!

The Buzz :: Fall Favorites

As the fall months approach, it’s a great time to refresh your home. I’ve noticed that I’m gravitating to cool whites and deep indigo blues. Although not typically associated with the fall, the color palette is a great one for any season. It’s timeless. Here are a few swoon worthy fall favorites that caught my eye.

Friday Find :: Designer Outdoor Fabrics

outdoor living // california style

With warmer weather fast approaching our patios, decks and porches are going to get a lot more use. Here is California, our outside living is an extension of what’s inside and therefore its critical that the design flows from one space to another. In the past, outdoor fabrics have been ho-hum and frankly there hasn’t been much selection. Over the past few years however, I’ve seen a huge uptick in beautiful designer outdoor fabrics. And these chic, yet durable fabrics are great for indoors too. For a client with young children and pets, I recently installed several chairs, window cushions and pillows in outdoor fabrics.

Today I’ve rounded up a few of my current faves in designer outdoor fabrics:
