Do you remember my Michaela who interned for me a few years ago? Her grandmother always told her to dream big and dream she did. Last year, Michaela and her friend Ashley launched The Bloom Workshop. And not surprisingly it’s been a huge success! The hands-on workshop was designed for creative women who are eager to learn about blogging, social media, photography, interior design and styling. Our goal is to share our knowledge on how each of these topics work together to help take blogs or businesses to the next level. Bloom’s mission is to help fuel women’s creative passions, establish authentic community, and help each attendee feel confident in their small business or blog. With special sessions on the specifics of blogging, social media best practices, design, styling and photography, a styled photo shoot to practice the skills guests just learned, and a Q&A session with a panel of experts this is a great opportunity for all eager to learn, network and hone creative skills.

Lulu & Georgia Giveaway and Bathroom Styling
Our new bathroom still needed a little styling especially one wall above the toilet. I teamed up with Lulu & Georgia for some super chic decor items for the space. I instantly fell in love with a photograph of a beautiful cactus plant. The gray tones and organic pattern look amazing with the marble tile. Love it! I also spotted the Retrograd Vase and liked it’s mid-century modern vibe. I filled it with succulents from my garden for a pop of color. To finish out the look, I selected a three wick candle housed in a timeless tin with a metallic knob. The cedar with scent with hints of vanilla is amazing. Every bathroom needs a candle like this – and don’t forget to pair it with an adorable matchbox like this! And for a limited time, grab some for yourself at 20% OFF at LuLu & Georgia using discount code: BEE20 (expires 10/22/14).
Have a spot in your home that needs some styling too? Good news! Lulu & Georgia is giving one lucky Simplified Bee reader a $100 gift card. To enter please use the Rafflecopter widget below:

Tips for Styling a Bookcase Like an Interior Designer
Remove all items from your shelves. Store or donate unsightly paperback books.
For visual interest, back your shelves with a contrasting wallpaper print or colorful paint. This gorgeous bookcase by Samantha Pynn {decorator, stylist and host and principal designer of Pure Design on HGTV} is backed with Schumacher’s Imperial Trellis by Kelly Wearstler in Charcoal.
Adding objects such as shapely ceramics, decorative boxes, small sculptures, family photos and original artwork makes your bookcase more visually interesting and personal. When selecting objects, be aware of the scale and color. Objects shouldn’t blend in or get lost on the shelves. Here is an example of beautiful bookcases flanking a fireplace from Elle Decor {May 2008} that showcase more decorative objects than books. It makes me think that “Bookless” bookshelves may show up more often as people go high tech and move to the Kindle or iPad to read books. What do you think? Do you like the look?
