For sometime The Shade Store has been a go to destination for me to source window treatments for clients as well as my own home. Do you remember the beautiful Roman Shade in our master bathroom for the One Room Challenge?

Nate Berkus // roller shade patterns // The Shade Store

To ensure quality custom window treatments, The Shade Store manages all inventory as well as every aspect of the production process. In addition, I love that all of their products are made in the USA.

The Shade Store collaborates with leading designers such as Kate Spade New York, Jonathan Adler and Jeffery Alan Marks to create fresh and relevant collections. I was thrilled to hear that recently they launched a collaboration with A-list designer, Nate Berkus. The Nate Berkus for The Shade Store Collection features five patterns for Roller Shades in neutral prints inspired by Berkus’ worldwide travels including textiles from Mexico, embroidery from Southeast Asia and printed fabrics from Europe. Some of my personal favorites are listed above. I’m loving this collection – how about you?

5 Favorites :: One Room Challenge 2017

disclosure: This post contains some affiliate links, which means Simplified Bee receives commission if you make a purchase using these links.

I’ve been following the latest One Room Challenge on Instagram – have you? As you may know I participated in the past; redecorating our foyer and then renovating our master bathroom… in 6 weeks no less! The pressure is real and so I was feeling for the latest group of decor bloggers that took on the challenge. The final design reveals were published last week and are super fun and creative. It was so hard to narrow down, but I’ve selected five designs to share with you today.

black vanity // master bathroom // house updated #orc

The black vanity with brass hardware in the master bathroom designed by House Updated is fabulous. The tribal rug with pale pinks and gray works beautifully with the marble flooring and herringbone walls. Love the rounded brass mirror too.

serene boy's nursery room

This serene, yet sophisticated gender neutral nursery room by chris loves julia is another fave. It was designed for her baby girl-to-be, but I think would work for a boy too. The brass geometric mobile is a super chic touch, don’t you think?

gracie wallpaper // dressing room // house of brinson

House of Brinson‘s guest bedroom and dressing room is also spectacular. The walls are covered in an aged blue gray paint by Farrow & Ball and panels of Gracie wallpaper hang in the dressing room (shown above). Simply stunning.

chinoiserie chic // console table

The dining and sitting room design by The Pink Pagoda is another show stopper. The traditional design is layered with chinoiserie and modern touches. I’m loving this vignette in particular… and look a fern!

floral wallpaper + pink ceiling // bedroom // the english room

At first glance, this bedroom seemed it was designed for a teenage girl, but it’s actually the master bedroom for blogger Holly from The English Room. She is known for her bold, colorful and multi-layered designs. Don’t you love the lucite bed!

And be sure to check out all the fabulous One Room Challenge Spring 2017 reveals at Calling it Home. So fun!

One Room Challenge Spring 2016 :: Favorites

The last few weeks have been a bit of a blur. My kids are wrapping up their school year, we have started demoing the kitchen/great room and I’ve starting taking training classes for our puppy (see image below). I’m also quite relieved that the One Room Challenge Spring 2016 edition is complete. The experience was so much fun, yet exhausting. I’m so thankful to have worked with Linda from Calling it Home who created it all and with the generous event sponsors including, allmodernbassett mirrorbellacorcaroline cecil textilescrystoramadecoratorsbestfarrow & balljoss & mainloweslucent light shopluxholdupsminted.comwaiting on martha, and  waterworks.

A huge thank you to you. I’m overwhelmed by the supportive and loving comments, emails, and thumbs up you’ve sent my way. Many thanks!!!

Did you have an opportunity to check out the other 19 bloggers that participated in the challenge? Again, I was blown away by the talent and gorgeous designs. Here are a few of my favorite ORC transformations…

laundry room // the zhush

Who wouldn’t enjoy doing laundry in this space designed by Sue De Chiara of the The Zhush? My favorite design detail is the fabulous Nuvolette wallpaper by Cole and Sons. Perfection.

living room // clare brody designs // one room challenge

Claire Brody transformed her living room using layers of neutrals. Isn’t it inviting? Love.

office // waiting on martha // one room challenge

Modern, organized and chic – the new office space for the Waiting On Martha team is a fave.

guest bedroom // pencil + paper // one room challenge

The guest suite by pencil and paper blog is one I’d love in my own home. I adore the blush pink walls and chinoiserie touches.

pink girl's bedroom // sketch 42

How sweet is this pink bedroom the Nicole from Sketch 42 designed for her sister? Loving the skirted table in Miles Redd fabric.

colorful den // the pink clutch // one room challenge

Paige Minear of The Pink Clutch transformed her already beautiful den into a colorful oasis. There is so much eye candy in this space from the wallpapered bookcases to the gorgeous upholstery. Love all of the layers.

Here are all the links to the other amazing transformations…

One Room Challenge :: Master Bathroom and Closet Reveal

master bathroom // @simplifiedbee // #oneroomchallenge

Today’s the day – the One Room Challenge reveal. I can’t believe how quickly the last six weeks have flown by. There have been ups and downs along the way, but I’m so excited to share my new Master Bathroom and Walk-in Closet with you. It was a definitely a bigger challenge than the Foyer I designed last fall, but in the end I’m so glad that I selected this space. It’s my now my new favorite place in our home. Serene. Chic. Functional. Love, love, love it.

In case you are just joining and seeing this all for the first time, here are links to the first five weeks of my One Room Challenge this spring:

Week One (before) // Week 2 (inspiration & demo)

Week 3 (paint & wallpaper) // Week 4 (lighting, hardware & textiles)

Week 5 (accessories)

Also to refresh your memory and to appreciate the dramatic transformation, I’ve included a few before images in combination with the new images.

I’m over-the-moon with the result. The mosaic marble tile floor was a starting point of the whole design. I went with my gut to do a larger pattern on the floor and I’m so pleased. To counter the heavy pattern the walls, the main vanity and trim were all painted in Farrow & Ball’s Strong White. It’s perfect neutral white for all the gray tones throughout the space.

I was instantly drawn to Kamala Nahas’ Liquid Amber artwork from minted.com. The black and white photograph of a single leaf was simple, yet striking. I hung it over a double towel rack with personalized towels.

master bathroom // vanity // @simplifiedbee

I designed the double sink vanity to have modern, clean lines. The polished chrome square ring pulls are a mid-century modern touch that I love. A pair of rectangle under-mount sinks by Kohler (Lowes) are paired with polished chrome faucets and a beautiful Calcutta marble top.

waterworks bathroom accessories // @simplifiedbee #oneroomchallenge

A handsome trio of bath accessories from Waterworks are placed on a black and white boudoir tray. I love the mix of material here!

master bathroom // glass sconce detail // @simplifiedbee #oneroomchallenge

I’m not a fan of matchy matchy finishes. In the bathroom, I mixed a variety of metals including brass and polished chrome.  Here is a detail of Crytorama’s glass torch wall sconce flanking the brass vanity mirrors. Loving it!

The marble shower features two shower heads, a marble seat and a steam unit by Mr. Steam. The lucite door handle by LuxHoldUps is my favorite detail. It’s generous in size and adds that chic touch that I was looking for.

The water closet is super whimsical. The Woods & Pears wallpaper by Cole & Son (DecoratorsBest) sets a dramatic tone. The Roman Shade in Caroline Cecil Textiles‘ Ink Stripe is a fun play on pattern. The round mirror with leather strap (Joss & Main) adds another play on pattern and more natural light to the space. The flush mount ceiling fixture (Crystorama) and painted ceiling in Farrow & Ball’s Worsted is another little element of surprise.

master bathroom // shoe closet detail - bumblebee wallpaper // @simplifiedbee master bathroom // closet wallpaper detail // @simplifiedbee @oneroomchallenge

My closets in the bathroom were lined in Farrow & Ball’s Bumblebee Wallpaper 586 – it’s a grayish pink and a nod to the pink in the original bathroom. I had to incorporate a bee motif somewhere! I’m also thrilled with the rolling laundry basket (Joss & Main) and the chic stool (AllModern).

brass + glass sputnik light fixture // @simplifiedbee #oneroomchallenge

For an additional modern touch, I selected a glass & brass sputnik flush mount fixture (Lucent Light Shop) to hang above the make-up vanity. Love it!

The make-up vanity is my special little space in the bathroom. Isn’t it pretty? In addition to the stool, I incorporated lots of girly touches like the lucite and polished chrome pulls, round marble tray by waterworks for my perfume and a bronze standing mirror by Arteriors (Bellacor). The top of the vanity is also papered in the same Bumblebee wallpaper as the closets and covered with clear glass. The window is also treated with a Roman shade in Caroline Cecil Textiles.

:: WALK-IN CLOSET AFTER ::

My husband’s walk-in closet was quite a transformation too! The new space features a playful Great Wave wallpaper by Cole & Son (DecoratorsBest), a handsome rope mirror (Bassett Mirror Co) and a stately brass semi-mount light fixture (Crystorama).

I also incorporated some super stylish storage pieces including a beautiful marble box (Bellacor), rattan laundry basket (Waterworks) and beach house bins that line the shelves.

I can’t tell you how relieved I am to have this project completed. The process certainly had its ups and downs. It would have never happened without the support of Linda (the founder of the One Room Challenge), the generosity of my sponsors and all of sub-contractors that maneuvered schedules to make it happen. A huge thank you!!!
