It’s that time of the year again! With winter’s chill comes the fun of bundling up in a comfy throw in front of a crackling fires while sipping hot cocoa. It also means that for many it’s essential to layer sweaters, coats and scarves to stay warm. Just because you are all bundled up, doesn’t mean you need to sacrifice style. I’ve hand-picked five favorites – in timeless grays and black – that will keep you warm and cozy, while still looking super chic.

Fabulous Hostess Gift Ideas for 2013

disclosure: This post contains an affiliate links, which means Simplified Bee receives commission if you make a purchase using this link.

As we move into November (can hardly believe it!), our minds quickly shift from spiders, cobwebs and witches to turkey dinner, holiday parties and hanging the stockings with care. Like many of you, the holiday season means large family dinners and cocktail parties with friends. If you’ll be heading to a Thanksgiving feast, Christmas party or holiday open house  in the next few weeks, bringing a thoughtful host or hostess gift is always appreciated. A favorite bottle of wine, homemade baked goods or a lovely bouquet of flowers are tried and true hostess gifts and will certainly be well received. However, if you are running short on time or want to bring something a little different, here are my favorite hostess gift ideas for 2013:

top to bottom:

pom pom throw (unexpected, yet always a winner) // wine tote (for the host’s fave bottle of champagne or wine)

monogrammed cheese board (for the entertainer)

personalized stationary (always well received) //holiday cupcakes (adorable right?!)

anchor bottle opener (for the cocktail party) // dried pomegranate wreath (great alternative to a traditional bouquet)

monogrammed drink coasters (for the host or hostess that has it all)

elephant place-card holders (love & a sneak peek from Nate Berkus’ Holiday Collection for Target due in stores 11/17)

What’s your favorite hostess gift?

‘Tis the Season…

gorgeous diy holiday wreath

Ahh, it’s here. The holiday season has begun and I looove it. To get you in the spirit too, Rue Magazine released their inspirational holiday issue and I wanted to share some of my favorite images. The gorgeous wreath above was created by a San Francisco interior designer and friend, Scot Meacham Wood. It’s a beauty. He shows us how he made it step-by-step in Rue.

I also thought this holiday cider cup (above) was so clever and would make a fun gift. Who doesn’t enjoy a hot cup of cider on a long winter’s day? Again, drop by Rue to see how to do this yourself!

I’m also thrilled to be included in Serena & Lily’s Holiday Picks from the Pros! They had me pick some of my faves from their holiday collection which was super fun, but frankly hard to narrow down! They also had my reminiscing about my best gift ever… my powder blue ten-speed bike when I was ten. It was a complete surprise and brought me so much joy. I also remember counting down the days until spring when the snow melted away and  I could ride it!
