Sorry for the radio silence, but our kitchen remodel has been consuming much of my time these days. I’ve made tons of decisions regarding cabinetry design, fixtures and finishes, but still have a few up in the air. For example, I still have yet to select the counter stools for an island. I’m torn on material and design. Should I pick up brass accents to echo the pendant lighting? Add a chinoiserie touch? or go with something classic? Here are a few that have made the short list. eeny, meeny, miny, mo…

San Francisco Decorator Showcase :: The Garden Room

Happy Friday! It’s been quite the hectic week with the One Room Challenge Reveal. I’m so relieved that’s it is complete (sigh) and touched by all the positive feedback. Thank you so much!

San Francisco Decorator Showcase // The Garden Room // Heather Hilliard

To wind down the week on a relaxing note, I’d like to share another fabulous room from this year’s San Francisco Decorator Showcase. The Garden Room by interior designers Heather Hilliard and Fleur Keyes of Heather Hilliard Design is an airy and informal space perfect for entertaining. With a casual, chic California vibe, the room’s organic design blurs the boundary between indoor and outdoor living. Love this! The walls are covered in a whitewash lime wall finish set a perfect neutral backdrop. A gorgeous open flame wood-burning fireplace is flanked by antique mirrors and logs ready for cozy fire. I’m also loving the long natural-edge wood Chris Lehrecke dining table and John Himmel handwoven rope armchairs – elegant, yet casual. Bravo ladies!

Friday Finds :: Vintage Safari Chairs

Vintage safari chairs seem to be popping up in more and more interiors. I’m personally drawn to the clean and yet rustic style. The chair which sprung from campaign furniture in the 19th century was designed to easily break down for travel.  Mid-century Scandinavian designers such as Kaare Klint and Arne Norell created versions of the safari chair that are in high demand today. If you are considering purchasing a vintage safari chair or two for yourself and the price tag has you shying away, you may consider CB2’s expat lounge chair or Bed Bath and Beyond’s Safavieh Dilan Safari Chair.

On my search for the perfect safari chair, I’ve rounded up a few both vintage and contemporary that caught my eye…
