Organized Travel

Whether I’m traveling for a weekend or for over a week, being organized is essential to making the trip go smoothly. I’ve always considered my packing techniques good, until I met Eagle Creek. The luggage company known for it’s functional, durable and flexible products, asked me pick out some items for review.  Without knowing much about the brand or products, I have to admit I was a little reluctant (I don’t review every product that comes my way!). However, I was pleasantly surprised with the high-quality and durable construction of the Eagle Creek products I selected – which makes this review sooo much easier!

I tested the products on a recent weekend trip. Here’s a look at all the items I needed to pack – I know, a girl’s gotta have lots of options!

First I selected the rolling, lightweight carry-on, Tarmac 22. Indeed at 7lbs 4 ozs, this is a light bag! Even though the luggage has an expandable main compartment, I also selected the Pack-it Specter Cube Set to help organize and maximize the space. The zippered pouches are very lightweight as well and I was amazed at how much I could cram in each! (kinda like the Chinese food takeout boxes!) I also love that they are water resistant! With the packing system, I was able to get all of my clothing (roll clothing for maximum efficiency), shoes and toiletries fitting perfectly in the main compartment.

I didn’t need it for this trip, but the front exterior pocket is padded – great for storing tablets and most laptops.

The coat keeper came in very handy and helped free up my hands. I also added a couple lime zipper pull not only for a fun pop of color, but to allow me to quickly identify my luggage in the future at those crazy baggage claims.

Although these products haven’t been tested long term, I’m not worried because Eagle Creek offers a lifetime warranty. Don’t you love when company’s stand behind their products like this? You’ll have to check out Eagle Creek.

Summer vacations, beach outings or simply lounging by the pool. Recently I published beach bag essentials, but overlooked one very important piece. The sweet folks at Truffle noticed it too and sent me some pouches to try for myself.

Well, I am completely sold. As you can see the petite Clarity Pouch is a perfect size to hold the little items that otherwise would get lost at the bottom of my large handbag. (and yes, I think a small child could fit in this handbag!)  So if you are looking to make your handbag, carry-on luggage or beach bag effortlessly organized, while still looking super stylish, you will have to consider a Truffle Clarity Pouch.

Happy Friday and Happy Organizing!

Summer Lovin’ ~ Beach Bag Essentials

With the heat of summer just around the corner, it’s time to get your beach bag organized. Here’s my list of beach bag essentials you’ll need when sitting poolside or on a sandy beach.

Carry a Cute, Yet Practical Beach Tote – When selecting a beach bag look for one that is big enough all your beach items. I love the chic clear vinyl tote by Trina Turk – it’s waterproof, easy to clean and allows you to view what’s inside. I picked mine up at Bloomingdales – Trina Turk stores are sold out of this bag already!
Pack a Generous Beach Towel – A big, soft towel should be at the top of your beach bag essentials list. Amy Butler is offering several bright and vibrant options this summer with unique seashell green, orange peacock and floral reef designs. Any would make a great companion at the beach or pool. Available at Bed Bath & Beyond
Throw on a Versatile Cover Up – The right cover up will allow you to transition seamlessly from beach to dinner with friends. The Elina cotton tunic by Lilly Pulitzer gets my vote for it’s flexibility – wear over swim, skinny pants or jeans. Also, it’s colorful, bright pattern is perfect for summer!
Slip on Some Chic Summer Sandals – A fun flip-flop sandal is a must. Lilly Puliter’s McKim pearlized patent sandal in “shorely blue” is one of my favorites. Love the signature metal o-ring detail. I will take them in black too, please.
Protect Your Eyes – No beach bag should be without a pair of sunglasses. I am smitten with Kate Spade’s “Ally” Petite Aviator Sunglasses. Available at Bloomingdales. And be sure to protect your eyewear with a “SPECS” needlepoint glasses case by Jonathan Adler.

Keep Your Hat On – Shade your face from the sun with a hat like the darling “Malibu” Terry Hat from Juicy Couture. Available at Nordstroms.
Toss in Some Sunscreen – Sunscreen is a must for every beach bag. Don’t mess around with sunscreens that include lots of harmful chemicals. My favorite is Lavera’s Sun 40SPF because it is an USDA-certified organic sunscreen free from ingredients we should all avoid, including fragrances, gluten and parabens. Wouldn’t want it any other way.
Keep Hydrated – Fill up a reusable water bottle to pack in your beach bag. I love the Dragonfly water bottle by EarthLust. It is handmade from high quality #304 food grade stainless steel and non-toxic paints – a stylish way to reduce the use of plastic water bottles. Available at Paper Source.
Now, grab your Elle Décor, House Beautiful or book of the week and head out for a day at the beach. What’s a must in your beach bag?
