For sometime The Shade Store has been a go to destination for me to source window treatments for clients as well as my own home. Do you remember the beautiful Roman Shade in our master bathroom for the One Room Challenge?

To ensure quality custom window treatments, The Shade Store manages all inventory as well as every aspect of the production process. In addition, I love that all of their products are made in the USA.

The Shade Store collaborates with leading designers such as Kate Spade New York, Jonathan Adler and Jeffery Alan Marks to create fresh and relevant collections. I was thrilled to hear that recently they launched a collaboration with A-list designer, Nate Berkus. The Nate Berkus for The Shade Store Collection features five patterns for Roller Shades in neutral prints inspired by Berkus’ worldwide travels including textiles from Mexico, embroidery from Southeast Asia and printed fabrics from Europe. Some of my personal favorites are listed above. I’m loving this collection – how about you?

Inspiration :: Girls Bathroom Design

I’ve been taking a break from tackling any new renovation projects in our home, but we do have a couple more bathrooms that need attention. One of the bathrooms on the list is that of my oldest daughter who is now a teenager – yes, time keeps flying by!

I want the space to reflect the traditional architecture of the house, while having a transitional feel. Here are some bathrooms that I’ve been drawn to… although, I haven’t passed any design ideas by my tough client 😉

make-up vanity // bathroom

In this bathroom by Brooke Wagner I’m loving the make-up vanity and large hex flooring.

basket weave tile // girls bathroom

The basket weave tile flooring and subtle blue vanity had me taking a second look at this bathroom by Studio McGee.

The pops of blue in the hex tile floor and mirror attracted me to this bathroom designed by Brooke Wagner.

black & white hex tile flooring // bathroom

Spotted on Design Sponge, this bathroom features a black and white hexagon floor and subway pattern tiled walls – a timeless look.

kids bathroom with wallpaper // Emily Henderson

Wallpaper is also something I’m considering for my daughter’s bathroom. I love this pattern in Emily Henderson’s kiddos’ jack & jill bathroom – however it may be a little too juvenile.

And how sweet is the bathroom by Amie Corley? Loving the tiny marble herringbone pattern floor, classic subway tiled walls and the floral wallpaper. Now to see what my client likes 🙂

Book Review :: Home Decor Cheat Sheets

How high should you hang a chandelier hang above the dining table? What paint finish should you use a kid’s room? What size rug should go under your bed? When it comes to decorating the questions can be endless, but there are definitely some design dos and don’ts I adhere to. Some of these “rules” are easy to remember, but it’s always nice to have a cheat sheet or illustration to reference. Over time I have pinned, cut-out and dogeared pages in decor books, but have never had one single source. So I was thrilled to receive a copy of a newly released book, Home Decor Cheat Sheets by Jessica Probus that contains 300+ colorful, easy-to-understand images aimed at teaching you everything from furniture placement to bathroom lighting tricks, window styles to  how to make a floor plan. I’m loving the practical nature of this book and is a resource I’m looking forward to using for years to come. Decor lovers, you are going to want a copy of this helpful book. It would also make a perfect housewarming gift!

Just like the completion of any home, the cheat sheets in this book are meant to be used as a process not to be tackled in one day or even one year, but consulted as needed over time to make the kind of slow, purposeful improvements that turn a few walls and some well-hung curtains into an actual home. – Jessica Probus, Author of Home Decor Cheat Sheets

Spring has just sprung, but retails have us already preparing for summer. Typically I don’t like to jump ahead too much, but the new Threshold summer collection at Target is one that I had to share. It’s that good! I’m loving all the graphic patterns, shades of blue and use of rattan – this lounge chair, bart cart and basket are all on my list! Here’s a round-up of other faves from the collection.
