Design Crush :: Maggie Pierson Design

Comfortable sophistication. That’s what homeowner, jewelry designer, and founder of Dogeared Jewelry, Marcia Maizel-Clarke was seeking when re-designing her Malibu, California home. She hired interior designer and friend, Maggie Pierson to execute her vision of an inviting home that flowed and was well suited for entertaining. The result, as featured in MyDomaine is light & airy, approachable & open, and chic & relaxed. Love, love, love!

Beautiful Southern California Home Tour

It’s a new week and I’m thrilled to be sharing a beautiful project by Corona del Mar, California-based interior designer, Ohara Davies-Gaetano. The emerging designer (recently published in Veranda) helped a family remodel and settle into their new Newport Beach home (downsizing from their previous one in Virginia). Ohara created an inviting, comfortable, yet elegant space reflective of her clients’ casual lifestyle. She also wanted a very open feeling where all areas of the house seamlessly flow into the next. Because the home was much smaller than what the owners were used to, each room had to serve its purpose and be functional. European antiques found throughout the home add small but elegant touches, which epitomize Ohara’s passion for mixing a little old with the new. I also love how her design  embraces the gorgeous light, landscape and outdoor living Southern California is known for.

With warmer months ahead and our house addition wrapping up in a few weeks, I’ve been on the hunt for backyard patio furniture. We want the outside living area to feel like an extension of our home, so are looking to add an outdoor sofa. It’s been hard to narrow down because I like such a variety of styles. Here are a few we are considering. Which would do you like best?
