10 Questions :: Sisterhood of the World of Bloggers Award

You may have seen the Sisterhood of the World of Bloggers Award going around from blog to blog. I’m not sure when it all started, but recently I had the good fortune of being tagged by Lisa, a sweet friend and the incredibly talented interior designer behind Lisa Mende Design. This means that I’ve been asked to answer her 10 questions, then select 10 new bloggers and ask them to answer my 10 questions. Thank you Lisa for nominating me! And here we go…

Q :: If you could have any job besides the one you have right now, what would it be?

A :: Wow, that’s tough. I’m living my dream job right now but, if I had to pick something I think I would be a textile designer. As you may know, I’m a little obsessed with fabrics and wallpaper!

Q :: If you had one day completely alone how would you fill your time?

A :: I’d spend the day at the beach under an umbrella with the latest shelter magazine.

Book Review :: Windsor Smith HOMEFRONT

Her interiors are glamorous, yet practical; sophisticated, yet relaxed. She strikes the perfect balance. I’m talking about A-list interior designer, Windsor Smith. She is simply one of the best in the business and so it’s no surprise that her first book, HOMEFRONT (Rizzoli) is absolutely fantastic. Filled with over 200 inspiring images, Smith walks through her process for creating beautiful, functional spaces from design intuition to the home in balance. In the book’s introduction, she explains her goal is to “design beautiful rooms for the way people today actually use them, regardless of their intended purpose, breaking the rules as to how a room ‘should’ function.” Her approach of creating livable spaces in every corner of the home resonates with me. Take a look at just some of the gorgeous images that grace the pages of this book and I think you’ll agree too.

A home in balance is masculine and feminine, antique and modern, light and dark, austere and glam, rustic and sophisticated – all these things in perfect harmony. – Windsor Smith

I’m like an unruly child when it comes to design. There’s always a point where I say: “What if this weren’t the dining room?” – Windsor Smith
